A 25-year-old security guard tagged as the Regional Level Top 1 Most Wanted Person (MWP) in the National Capital Region (NCR) for murder and a separate rape case was arrested in Quiapo, Manila during a police operation over the New Year.
The suspect, identified only as alias “Marlon,” was apprehended by operatives of the Manila Police District (MPD) – Police Station 14 (PS-14) inside a lodging house in Quiapo as part of an intelligence-driven Oplan Pagtugis, according to MPD-PS14 commander Police Lieutenant Colonel Cicero Pura.
Police said the suspect is a native of Midsayap, North Cotabato, and a resident of M. Dela Fuente Street, Sampaloc, Manila.
He was reportedly subjected to several days of surveillance along Elizondo and Globo de Oro streets in Quiapo prior to his arrest.
Authorities disclosed that the operation was launched following information that the suspect—allegedly a former member of the Moro National Liberation Front (MNLF)—was seen within the PS-14 jurisdiction.
He was previously listed as Top 5 Most Wanted in Cotabato for murder and later identified as Top 1 Most Wanted in NCR for rape.
The suspect was arrested by virtue of a warrant of arrest issued by the Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 26 in Midsayap, North Cotabato, dated October 29, 2025, for murder.
He was also served a separate warrant of arrest for rape issued by Manila RTC Branch 6, dated June 25, 2025, for an incident that allegedly occurred in Manila.
According to police intelligence, the suspect previously worked as a security aide of a politician in Cotabato but fled to Metro Manila after being implicated in a murder case.
He later found employment as a security guard in the city, where he allegedly committed rape, resulting in another arrest warrant.
Lt. Col. Pura said PS-14 continues to strengthen its coordination with the community as part of its intensified anti-criminality campaign, especially with the approaching Feast of the Jesus Nazarene and Traslacion 2026.
The MPD-PS14 assured the public that security measures are in place to ensure peace and order during the religious event, in line with the directives of MPD Director Brig. Gen. Arnold Abad and the city government’s public safety programs.
