Pateros not included in e-trike ban on Metro Manila roads
The Pateros local government announced that the municipality is not included in the e-trike ban on Metro Manila roads, which the Land Transportation Office (LTO) started enforcing on Jan. 2.
“Hindi po tayo kabilang sa mga apektadong lugar para sa impound at pagbawal ng e-bikes — sapagkat ang pagbabawal ay naaayon sa national highways at major thoroughfares, at hindi sa mga lokal na kalsadang pang-municipal (We are not among the affected areas for the impound and ban on e-bikes — because the ban is in accordance with national highways and major thoroughfares, and not local municipal roads),” the Pateros municipal government said on Jan. 2.
It added, “Ibig pong sabihin, ang paggamit ng e-bike sa mga lokal na daan at barangay roads sa Pateros ay nananatiling pinapayagan — basta’t sumusunod sa tamang regulasyon (This means that the use of e-bikes on local roads and barangay roads in Pateros remains allowed — as long as they comply with the correct regulations).”
It advised the public not to let minors drive e-trikes and e-bikes.
“Hinihikayat rin po ang lahat na maging mapanagot sa kaligtasan sa lansangan: siguraduhing maayos ang inyong e-bike, gumamit ng tamang protective gears, iwasang makipagsabayan sa mabibilis na sasakyan, at huwag hayaang manehuhin ng mga menor de edad (Everyone is also encouraged to be responsible for road safety: make sure your e-bike is in good condition, use the right protective gears, avoid racing with speeding vehicles, and do not let minors drive it).”
The LTO announced that roads included in the e-trike ban are the Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (EDSA), C-5 Road, Roxas Boulevard, and Quirino Ave to Magallanes-South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) based on the regulations of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA).
It said violators of the ban will face a fine or possible impoundment of their e-trike.
