A female Filipino convicted of several charges was arrested by the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) during its new year operations, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said.
Karen Empaynado, who was convicted of burglary, grand theft, and battery in Deltona, Florida, was among the 10 individuals nabbed by ICE agents during the New Year's Eve and New Year's Day operations.
The DHS said in a statement that she was "a criminal illegal alien from [the] Philippines."
Other individuals arrested by ICE were nationals of Mexico, Honduras, Jamaica, Dominican Republic and Cuba.
DHS described them as the "worst of worst criminal illegal aliens including pedophiles, murderers, and fraudsters."
“ICE law enforcement secures our streets every single day including over the holiday season. They rang in the New Year with the removal of more disgusting monsters including pedophiles, murderers, and fraudsters from American neighborhoods,” said Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin.
“Thanks to our brave law enforcement officers, American families have safer communities in 2026," she added.
