The Police Regional Office-1 seized P70.4-million worth of illegal drugs in December in the Ilocos region.
Police Brig. Gen. Dindo R. Reyes, PRO-1 chief, said 126 suspects were apprehended in 127 operations.
These operations were conducted in coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Region 1 in line with the intensified campaign against illegal drugs in the region.
Confiscated were 796 grams of shabu, 525.58 grams of dried marijuana leaves, 323,350 marijuana plants, and 8,000 marijuana seedlings.
Reyes said 57 marijuana plantations with a total land area of 64,576-square meters in Barangays Danac and Licungan in Sugpon, Ilocos Sur were destroyed in a
four-day operation from Dec. 9 to 12.Uprooted were 283,400 fully grown marijuana plants and 8,000 seedlings worth P57 million.
“These accomplishments are a testament to the diligent implementation of directives from higher authorities aimed at strengthening the campaign against crime and illegal drugs, ensuring peace, and maintaining order nationwide,” Reyes said.
Meanwhile, PRO-1 arrested 190 wanted persons and seized 190 loose firearms in the Ilocos region in December.
Reyes said the successful operations were carried out in line with directives from higher authorities aimed at strengthening law enforcement, promoting accountability, and protecting the public.
“With the guidance of our national leaders, we assure the public that PRO-1 will continue to intensify law enforcement efforts and enhance coordination with partner agencies and the community. Our goal remains clear – to maintain peace and order, protect our citizens, and uphold the rule of law throughout Region 1,” Reyes said.
Eighteen persons were arrested for illegal possession of firearms in 19 operations.
Seventeen guns were confiscated, eight were recovered, 146 were voluntarily surrendered, and 19 were deposited at police stations for safekeeping.
Reyes said that these accomplishments reflect their strong commitment to public safety.
“We urge the public to continue cooperating with law enforcement by surrendering unlicensed firearms. Our combined efforts are crucial in ensuring safer communities across Region 1,” he said.
