Security measures at the Lapu-Lapu City Jail Female Dormitory (LLCJFD) will be tightened with the scheduled January 5 hearing of controversial contractor Sarah Discaya, the Bureau of Jail management and Penology (BJMP) said.
The Lapu-Lapu City Regional Trial Court Branch 27 will hear on Jan. 5 Discaya’s motion to remain in the custody of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).
Discaya’s arraignment on her malversation of public funds and graft cases is scheduled on January 13.
LLCJFD warden Chief Insp. Ivy Christine Manigos said security protocols have been prepared for Discaya's safe transit for the hearing.
“While no official communication has been received regarding their decision to appear in person, the BJMP is nonetheless undertaking necessary preparations should a face-to-face appearance be decided upon,” Manigos noted.
The BJMP Regional Office 7 has deployed a Special Tactics and Response Team for Discaya’s possible transport.
“Sarah Discaya availed of the ‘E-Dalaw’ system during the Christmas holiday,’’ the BJMP said.
Discaya and eight Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) personnel are detained in Cebu over an alleged “ghost’’ project in Davao Occidental.
