Pasay City Mayor Emi Calixto-Rubiano said the zero-fire record was achieved through the BFP’s intensified fire safety campaign, including the distribution of “torotot” (horn) under the “Say No to Paputok” initiative.
Rubiano said firefighters distributed “torotot” to residents during a motorcade around the city to remind the public of the dangers of using prohibited firecrackers, which may cause injuries and trigger fires that could disrupt New Year celebrations.
She added that the zero-fire record marks a major success of the BFP’s fire prevention and safety efforts in the city.
The BFP also placed fire trucks and emergency responders on full alert in key areas across Pasay to ensure immediate response.
Fire officials said the outcome reflected the strong cooperation and discipline of Pasayeños, who heeded advisories against the use of prohibited firecrackers and other fire hazards while welcoming the New Year.
