A 57-year-old man was gunned down by his younger brother at their residence in Sitio Nagtupacan, Barangay Bangbangar, Bangued, Abra on New Year’s Day, Jan. 1.
Police Lt. Crismar Hib-aton, deputy chief of police of Bangued, identified the victim as Nelson Viste.
The victim was sitting on a nylon swing while drinking liquor when the suspect, Rudy, 46, arrived.
A heated argument erupted and the suspect drew a caliber .38 revolver and shot the victim in the chest.
The victim was taken by relatives to the hospital where he was declared dead.
The suspect fled but was arrested a few hours later during a police manhunt operation.
The victim’s siblings are preparing to file murder charges against the suspect, who is now under police custody.
Hib-aton said follow-up investigation is ongoing.
