Man hit by stray bullet in Bulacan, one hurt by firecracker
A man in Baliuag City was hit by a stray bullet while a village watchman in Marilao was injured by a firecracker during the New Year's Eve revelry in the province of Bulacan on Thursday, Jan. 1.

Lt. Col. Jayson San Pedro, Baliuag City police chief, reported that the victim of the stray bullet had to undergo an operation on the neck at an undisclosed hospital.
Based on the police investigation, the victim was sitting under the mango tree when he was hit by a stray bullet.
At around 4:00 a.m., police immediately conducted an investigation to determine the origin of the gunshot.
The police discovered at least 10 bullet casings of a 9mm and .22 caliber pistols in front of the house of a village councilor.
When the village councilor was asked by the police why he fired a gun despite the prohibition, he claimed he pointed his gun at a creek or irrigation canal in front of his house.
Police arrested the village councilor for indiscriminate firing. He did not resist arrest and surrendered his two firearms for forensic examination.
Meanwhile, in Barangay Abangan Sur, Marilao, Bulacan a village watchman was injured by an exploding firecracker while on duty during the New Year's celebration.
Police identified the watchman as Joselito Romero, 61, from Barangay Abangan Sur.
Romero was hit on the chin and arm by the exploding firecracker while patrolling on his motorcycle.
He was immediately brought to the Bulacan Medical Center in the City of Malolos for treatment.
