A forum on heritage tourism for youth and professionals

With the rise of new technologies and artificial intelligence, cultures and traditions face unprecedented threats, including the commercialization of sacred practices, the erosion of oral traditions, and the digital misrepresentation of indigenous histories. Furthermore, the current lack of structured platforms to bridge modern digital tools with traditional knowledge often leaves these historical legacies vulnerable to displacement or neglect. However, these same advancements present transformative opportunities for growth and preservation, offering innovative ways to document, celebrate, and safeguard heritage for the digital age.
To address this duality, the Leaders and Advocates of Heritage and Innovation (LAHI) proudly presents its major event for the year 2026: 'Legacy and Innovation: A Forum on Heritage Tourism for Youth and Professionals.' This significant two-day event will take place from Jan. 12 to 13, 2026, at the Bulwagang Balagtas Hall of the Polytechnic University of the Philippines (PUP) – Sta. Mesa Campus.
This upcoming forum is designed to gather young people and professionals from various universities in the Philippines and abroad—including but not limited to South Korea, Spain, Mongolia, Cambodia, and Canada—to discuss and explore new ideas for preserving heritage and reviving forgotten cultures. The forum consists of a conference talk featuring international and local expert speakers, open panel discussions, research project competition, live activities, cultural performances, and gala night.
To bridge grassroots initiatives with national policy, the event also welcomes representatives from the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA). Alongside various stakeholders, they will share vital insights to advance sustainable heritage tourism in the Philippines.
Guests will have the opportunity to purchase official LAHI merchandise designed to highlight local products of the Philippines. Attendees may also witness a small exhibit area, featuring artifacts, memorabilia, and visual arts displays in partnership with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA).
