The Police Regional Office-13 said on Thursday that the New Year in the Caraga region was generally peaceful.
“No untoward incidents were recorded,” said PRO-13 Regional Public Information Office Police Major Jennifer S. Ometer. “Our proactive security measures helped a lot,” she said.
The RPIO chief thanked the people for ensuring that New Year in the region is safe and orderly.
The safe and orderly celebration was also credited to the close coordination with the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP), other law enforcement agencies, different line agencies of the government, and local government units.
“Our field units stayed round-the-clock in their respective areas of assignment during Christmas and New Year’s festivities,” Ometer said.
The strict implementation of the one-strike policy against indiscriminate firing also added to the peaceful celebration, she said.
PRO-13 Director Police Brig. Gen. Marcial Mariano P. Magistrado IV ordered field units to continue maintaining vigilance as work and classes fully resume next week.
Magistrado thanked the people for helping the police secure the Caraga region during the holiday season. “Maraming salamat po (Thank you) and Happy New Year to all Caragnons.”
