PAO Chief Acosta's wish for 2026: 'Honesty, transparency in governance'
“Honesty and transparency in governance” in 2026 are the wishes of Chief Public Attorney Persida V. Rueda-Acosta.
Since 2025 has been marred by corruption scandals involving government officials, Acosta said that “it is high time things change.”
"Sa pagsalubong natin sa Bagong Taon, pinapanibago natin ang ating sama-samang pag-asa para sa isang Pilipinas na tunay na pinaghaharian ng katarungan, pagiging patas, at paghahari ng batas, (As we welcome the New Year, we renew our collective hope for a Philippines truly governed by justice, fairness, and the rule of law)," she said.
She expressed hopes that 2026 will be the year when honesty, transparent governance, accountability in every institution, and service guided by integrity and compassion will prevail over greed and corruption.
"Nawa'y hindi na maranasan ng sambayanang Pilipino ang mabigat na pasanin at tahimik na pagdurusa dulot ng katiwalian, (May the Filipino people no longer experience the heavy burden and silent sufferings caused by corruption)," she also said.
Instead, she stressed that all Filipinos should rise up with courage and unity -- strengthened by good governance, protected by the law, and inspired by a shared aspiration for the common good.
