President Marcos welcomed the new year with a call for reflection, unity, and continued work toward what he described as a more humane and orderly “Bagong Pilipinas.”
In a Facebook post published at midnight on Jan. 1, Marcos urged Filipinos to look back on shared experiences and move forward with purpose.
“Sa pagpasok ng 2026, panahon itong magnilay sa mga pinagdaanan natin at magpatuloy nang may malinaw na direksiyon at pag-asa (As we enter 2026, this is a time to reflect on what we have gone through and to move forward with clear direction and hope),” he said.
He stressed that national progress depends on unity, saying, “Marami pa tayong kayang marating kung mananatili tayong nagkakaisa (We can still achieve so much if we remain united).”
The President added that the government would press on with reforms.
“Ipagpapatuloy natin ang pagtatrabaho para sa isang mas maayos at makataong Bagong Pilipinas (We will continue working for a more orderly and humane Bagong Pilipinas),” he said.
In his New Year’s Day message, Marcos said the start of 2026 was a moment for renewal and collective resolve.
He called on Filipinos to face the year with “discipline, confidence, and a shared commitment” to national progress, noting that a thriving society chooses empathy over indifference and service over self-interest.
The President said the administration remains committed to pursuing a Bagong Pilipinas that nurtures unity, fosters compassion, and highlights the strengths of the Filipino people.
First Lady shares gratitude, Christmas cheer
On New Year’s Eve, First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos shared a separate message of gratitude and togetherness on Instagram.
She described a simple Christmas gathering as a way of thanking those who have supported the First Family through the years.
“Sharing the joy of the season with the people who have stood with us through the years,” the First Lady wrote, calling it a celebration marked by love, gratitude, and hope.
She also expressed her gratitude to their supporters.
“Maraming salamat sa walang sawang suporta at taos-pusong pagmamahal (Thank you very much for the tireless support and heartfelt love),” the First Lady said.
