In the beginning of the year, President Marcos called on Filipinos to choose doing the things that would help the society grow such as opting for service rather than self-interest, empathy over indifference, and hope over despair.
"A society thrives when its people choose empathy over indifference, service over self-interest, and hope over despair," Marcos said in his message.
He stressed that the new year calls on the people to "examine how we live with one another, how we lift one another, and how our choices shape our nation."
The coming of another year, Marcos said, is a "moment of reflection and renewal," providing an opportunity to look back on the lessons, challenges, and achievements in 2025.
It also gives an opportunity to "look ahead with hope and purpose to the possibilities that await us," Marcos further said.
He also called on the citizenry to embrace 2026 with discipline, confidence, and commitment to progress.
"As we step into 2026, I therefore call on every Filipino to embrace the year with discipline, confidence, and a shared commitment to our nation's progress," he said.
Marcos expressed hopes that Filipinos move forward with clearer understanding of their roles and commitments in their respective lives and collective purpose.
"As we step into the unfolding days ahead, may we move forward with a clearer understanding of our role in each other's lives and a renewed commitment to building a future shaped not by circumstance alone, but by the strength of our will and the clarity of our collective purpose," Marcos said.
The President also vowed that the government will continue to be relentless in pursuing a country "that nurtures unity, fosters compassion, and showcases the greatness of our kababayans."
