Operatives of the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) foiled an attempt of a man to rob a bank in Taguig City following his arrest right inside the establishment on Monday afternoon, May 5. NCRPO director Maj. Gen. Anthony A. Aberin said the quick response of his men also resulted in the recovery of around P7.4 million cash from the private commercial bank in Barangay Western Bicutan.Aberin said the operation started when a local police station received an automated alarm signal from the bank.Policemen immediately went to the area and they were backed by tactical teams from the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) and the Tactical Motorcycle Riding Unit (TMRU).“This operation showcased rapid and effective law enforcement action. The prompt response led to the arrest of the suspect and the recovery of a firearm and stolen money,” said Aberin.“This is the kind of law enforcement and police response that we want to institutionalize,” he added.Aberin also attributed the police quick response to the Joint Anti-Bank Robbery Action and Cyber Crime Coordinating Committee (JABRACCC), a collaboration between the PNP and private sector, enhances the preparedness of law enforcement units in handling bank-related crimes through clear protocols, coordination, and real-time response strategies. He said the suspect is now under police custody and will be facing complaints for robbery, and violation of gun ban.Aberin said they are now conducting background checks to determine if the arrested suspect was also involved in other criminal activities.
