University of Santo Tomas vowed to bounce back and prepare a better game plan against De La Salle after suffering a 23-25, 25-20, 30-28, 29-27 defeat in their crucial battle for the No. 2 spot last Wednesday, April 30, at Mall of Asia Arena.

The Golden Tigresses were aware that one of the factors that pulled them down was their execution in endgame which cost them the chance to nab the twice-to-beat advantage in the semis.
“We’re losing two points per set, nauuna pa kami sa dulo, hopefully ma-develop pa ‘yong instinct, ‘yong pag-close out ng game,” said UST haed coach Kungfu Reyes.
“Maging one-point warrior, in a way manalo kami ng puntos, set, at ng game, ‘yon talaga ‘yong ini-aim namin… kailangan talaga naming trabahuhin ‘yong mga department na nagkaroon kami ng butas,” he added.
Tied at 1-1, UST took control in the next two sets, especially in the fourth frame where it built a 22-17 cushion. The team surprisingly lost its rhythm and eventually surrendered the lead against the determined Lady Spikers.
De La Salle, for its part, put on a defensive masterclass after listing 20 blocks courtesy of Angel Canino, Amie Provido, and Lilay Del Castillo.
Canino and Shevana Laput were both steady on the offensive end with 24 and 22 points, respectively.
To give UST a better fighting chance against the imposing DLSU, high-flying spiker Angge Poyos believes they should trust the system and keep the communication lines open.
UST and La Salle are meeting on Saturday, May 3, with the latter holding the semis bonus.
