Man arrested for extorting P200,000 from OFW

LOPEZ, Quezon – Police arrested a 37-year-old man for extorting P200,000 from an Overseas Filipino Worker in exchange for non-disclosure of her alleged affair with another man here on Wednesday afternoon, April 30.

Police identified the suspect as Christopher, single.

Investigation said the suspect sent a message to the victim. Maica, 38, online asking P200,000 in exchange for not posting her alleged affair with another man on social media.

Maica sought assistance from the police who conducted an entrapment operation that resulted into the arrest of the suspect while claiming and receiving the P5,000 sent by the victim.

Police recovered the money and the cellular phone with the conversation where the suspect was asking for P200,000 from the victim.

The suspect faces robbery extortion and cybercrime charges.
