Bulusan logs weak eruption on Labor Day

LEGAZPI CITY, Albay – Bulusan Volcano in Sorsogon province logged a weak eruption on Labor Day afternoon.

The Philippine Institute of Volcanoloy and Seismology observatory based in Sorsogon City said Bulusan erupted at around 1:30 p.m. 

This was another episode of volcanic activity that may affect nearby communities, particularly on the southwest portion.

Dong Mendoza, public information officer of Sorsogon, no ashfall was recorded following the eruption.

"Medyo mahina lang yung eruption. Walang reported na ashfall. Hindi katulad nung isang araw na malakas at nadagdagan pa ang apektadong lugar dahil sa ashfall," Mendoza said.

(The eruption was weak. No ashfall was recorded unlike the day before when it was strong and more areas were affected)

Bulusan is under Alert Level 1 or low volcanic unrest.
