Following the gun salute by seven policemen, Rizal police director Col. Felipe Maraggun led his personnel in offering a wreath at the foot of the bust of General Licerio Geronimo, a local hero who fought during the Philippine revolution against the Spanish colonizers before 1898 and the Philippine-American war later in 1899.

Geronimo, who hailed from Montalban, Rizal, was credited for leading his men in the Philippine American War in the Battle of San Mateo that led to the death of American Army General Henry Ware Lawton, the first US general who was killed in the Philippine-American War and the first US officer killed overseas.
