The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has confirmed the death of one of the four Filipinos reported missing after the devastating 7.7-magnitude that struck Myanmar on March 28.

In a statement on Wednesday, April 9, the DFA said the family of the deceased Filipino was already informed of the situation but refused to divulge further information.
"The Department of Foreign Affairs regrets to inform the nation that the remains of one of the four missing Filipinos in Mandalay, Myanmar have been positively identified," it said.
"The family of the deceased Filipino has been so informed. Out of respect for their privacy in this time of grief, we are withholding further information on the matter," it added.
The DFA assured the public that efforts are ongoing to locate the remaining three Filipinos who are still unaccounted for.
"We continue to work and hope for the best for the remaining three Filipinos still unaccounted for as a result of the powerful earthquake," it said.
The earthquake's epicenter was near Mandalay, Myanmar's second-largest city, causing widespread destruction across multiple regions. As of April 7, reports indicate that the death toll has surpassed 3,600 with over 5,000 injured and 160 individuals still missing.
Rescue operations have involved nearly 1,740 personnel from 20 countries, including the Philippines, resulting in the extraction of over 600 survivors.
The Philippine government has been actively involved in the search and rescue operations. It has deployed a 91-member inter-agency humanitarian contingent to assist in the earthquake relief operations in Myanmar.
The Philippine Embassy in Yangon remains in close coordination with local authorities and international partners to ensure the safety and well-being of Filipinos in Myanmar.

"While commercial flights are currently full, the Philippine government is coordinating the use of a C130 aircraft for those who wish to be repatriated on April 12," it said.
Those who will be repatriated will be allowed to return to Myanmar for work provided they hold the appropriate documentation.
In addition to repatriation, the Embassy likewise offers transportation assistance for relocation, temporary accommodation for 14 days, financial assistance for qualified individuals, and trauma counseling services.
