ILOILO CITY – Police arrested five persons for illegal possession of firearms during a one-day search warrant operation in Iloilo and Capiz provinces on April 7.

The Police Regional Office-6 said that four suspects were from Iloilo and one was from Capiz. A total of nine firearms were seized from the suspects.
PRO-6 Director Police Brig. Gen. Jack Wanky said Benito was apprehended in Lambunao town, Iloilo.
Recovered from Benito were a homemade shotgun, magazine, a magazine for caliber 9mm with 13 bullets, and 12 caliber 9mm ammunition.
Also nabbed in Lambunao was Jolly with a grenade and a .38 caliber revolver.
Jessie, from Dueñas, Iloilo, yielded a homemade 12-gauge shotgun, caliber .38 revolver, bullets, and 18 fired cartridge cases.
Joemar was nabbed in New Lucena town, Iloilo. Recovered from him were a .45 caliber pistol, magazine, and eight bullets.
In Capiz, alias “Dodoy” was arrested in Cuartero town. In his possession were three different firearms.
The PRO-6 urged unregistered gun owners to cooperate with authorities to avoid arrest.
“Those who want to deposit or surrender your loose/undocumented firearms, you can communicate with the nearest police unit in your locality,” said Wanky.
