BACOLOD CITY – The City Veterinary Office successfully registered 301 pets through its pioneering innovative digital initiative designed to easily communicate office programs such as the vaccination campaign.

Dr. John Michael Cabuguason, assistant city veterinarian, said the program was launched during the city’s first pet festival.
Initially, the registration was capped at 100 pets, but due to the enthusiastic response from pet owners, they exceeded their target during the trial phase from April 4 to 6.
The first pet to be registered using the QR code system was a dog owned by a local journalist. The pet also received a dog tag for tracking purposes.
Cabuguason noted that paper records can easily be misplaced, which creates extra work compared to the digital system, where information is securely stored and cannot be lost.
Pet owners can register their pets through a QR code system that directs them to an online platform where they can input their own and their pet’s details. This information is immediately added to the profile system.
The pet registration is free of charge during the festival but for pet owners who want an added feature for easier tracking of lost pets, they can pay P175 for a QR coded tag. This tracking registration is done through their partner, pethub.ph.
Cabuguason said that they are still testing the system and will announce its official resumption once they make necessary adjustments to ensure its smooth operation.
He said registration will resume in two weeks to one month. Those who registered online have the option to print QR code tags for their pets, he added.
Cabuguason thanked the community for their overwhelming attendance and support during the week-long pet festival.
