Isuzu Philippines Corporation (IPC) has officially launched the 2025 Isuzu mu-X in the country, introducing a refreshed version of its popular midsize SUV. The new model brings updates across exterior styling, cabin features, off-road performance, and safety technology, aimed at maintaining its competitive edge in the Philippine SUV market.
The mu-X arrives following its strong market performance in other regions. It led the pickup-based passenger vehicle (PPV) segment in Thailand in 2024 and gained popularity in Australia for its family-friendly and adventure-ready attributes. IPC now hopes to replicate that success locally.
"For over a decade, the Isuzu mu-X has been a staple in Filipino households, trusted by families, business professionals, and adventure seekers alike," said new IPC President Mikio Tsukui. "With its new elevated design, enhanced features, and cutting-edge technology, we have no doubt that this latest model will once again set the standard in the SUV segment."
Updated exterior and improved aerodynamics
The 2025 mu-X adopts a sharper and more dynamic exterior, led by a new front grille and a redesigned bumper integrated with an Air Curtain function that reduces aerodynamic drag and cabin noise. LED lighting elements at the front and rear, including new Bi-Beam headlamps and updated taillights, further modernize its appearance.
A new set of 20-inch alloy wheels, along with tweaks to the tailgate and lower rear bumper, gives the SUV a more robust yet refined stance. These changes also contribute to improved airflow and reduced wind resistance, helping boost both efficiency and ride comfort.
Interior enhancements and infotainment upgrades
Inside, the mu-X receives subtle but notable refinements. An all-black leather interior is now complemented by ambient lighting, piano black accents, and upgraded stitching on the steering wheel. The 7-inch Multi-Information Display (MID) adds functionality by showing data such as eco-driving feedback and four-wheel-drive status.
The infotainment system has also been updated. A 10.1-inch touchscreen now supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, while wireless charging is also available for added convenience.
Powertrain and off-road capability
Under the hood, the mu-X retains the 3.0-liter 4JJ3-TCX Blue Power engine, delivering 190 PS and 450 Nm of torque. Known for its reliability and low-end torque, the engine is paired with a four-wheel-drive system that includes a new Rough Terrain Mode and an upgraded Traction Control System.
These additions are designed to give drivers greater control in challenging driving conditions. Complementing the setup is a refined suspension system and an improved chassis, both of which aim to enhance ride comfort and high-speed stability.
Upgraded safety features
Safety has been a major focus in the 2025 update. The new mu-X is equipped with the latest generation of Isuzu's Advanced Driver Assist System (ADAS), powered by a Gen4 SMART Duo Camera. The stereo camera offers a 120-degree field of view and can detect objects up to 120 meters ahead.
A 360-degree Around View Monitor, now included, improves driver visibility in tight spaces. The vehicle also features a built-in Digital Video Recorder (DVR), Front Parking Sensors, and Rear Cross Traffic Brake (RCTB), which works in tandem with Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA).
Pricing and availability
The 2025 Isuzu mu-X is offered in several variants. Pricing starts at ₱1,725,000 for the 1.9L RZ4E 4x2 LS AT, going up to ₱2,670,000 for the 3.0L 4x4 LS-E AT. A new Eiger Gray color is now available for LS-A and LS-E trims.
The updated SUV will be on display at the 2025 Manila International Auto Show from April 10 to 13 at the World Trade Center in Pasay. Visitors can explore the model in person, test drive it, and access limited-time offers.
