Bacoor checkpoint chase: 2 Chinese men yield gun, ammo
CAVITE – Two Chinese men who fled an Oplan Sita checkpoint were arrested following a car chase in Bacoor City on Saturday, May 3.
Cavite Police Provincial Office (PPO) identified the suspects as alias Ang, a resident of Pasay City, and alias Zao, a resident of Parañaque City.
The police said the two suspects were in a pickup truck and evaded a checkpoint inspection at the Daang Hari intersection.
Bacoor Component City Police Station operatives immediately alerted their units, leading to a car chase along NOMO Road.
Upon their arrest, the suspects yielded a gun, ammunition, rifle scopes, three vehicle plate numbers, and nine cell phones.
Alias Ang and alias Zao are facing multiple charges, including resistance and disobedience to a person in authority and violation of the Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act, the Omnibus Election Code, the Access Devices Regulation Act of 1998, and the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.
The police did not elaborate what specific cybercrime was committed, but “misuse” and “illegal access” were indicated in the suspects’ mugshots.
Cavite PPO told the Manila Bulletin that the recovered cell phones will be processed by the Philippine National Police (PNP) Anti-Cybercrime Group for forensic and technical investigation.
In a statement, Cavite PPO Acting Director Col. Dwight E. Alegre emphasized the PNP's commitment to intensified security operations, especially against foreign nationals involved in suspicious and illegal activities.
