Ashfall was reported in areas near Kanlaon Volcano in Negros Occidental after an eruption on Tuesday morning, April 8.

Netizens doing their morning chores posted photos and videos of the eruption shortly after the eruption.
One video showed gray dust going up the air as a vehicle passed by a road during the eruption.
Others showed their plants and vegetable plots covered in ash.
Ashfall covered crops in Haguimit, Negros Occidental.
Philippine Emergency Alerts Monitoring Center, a non-government organization, in a Facebook post, warned that ashfall is possible in these areas:
La Carlota City, Bago City, La Castellana, Pontevedra, San Enrique, Hinigaran, Valladolid,
Pulupandan in Negros Occidental; Guimaras,
Oton, Tigbauan, Guimba, Igbaras, Miagao, San Joaquin, Tubungan in Iloilo; and Sibalom, San Jose, Hamtic, Anini-y, and Tobias Fornier in Antique.
The NGO advised residents in these areas to wear masks to avoid inhaling harmful ashes which may cause respiratory problems.
If possible, remain indoors and close all the doors and windows during the ashfall, it added.
La Castellana Mayor Rhummyla Mangilimutan suspended classes on all levels in the town due to the eruption.
She reminded people to secure their pets and livestock from the ashfall.
Mangilimutan said ash fall affected the Barangays Mansalanao and Sag-Ang.
Mayor Jose Chubasco Cardenas of Canlaon City, Negros Oriental called on his constituents to step up vigilance after the eruption.
“To the people of Canlaon City, please be ready as we do not know the extent of this eruption,” Cardenas said in a Facebook post.
He urged people living in the volcano's Permanent Danger Zone (PDZ) not to let their guard down.
The mayor called for prayers and assured that the safety of the people is of utmost priority.
The local government unit has ordered the suspension of entry into the PDZ.
The city government has canceled face-to-face classes in all schools.
La Carlota Mayor Rex Jalando-on said The upland barangays of Ara-al, Yubo, and San Miguel were affected by ashfall.
The local governments of La Carlota and Isabela in Negros Occidental have also suspended face-to-face classes on all levels due to the eruption.
