Vice President Sara Duterte has finally returned to the Philippines after almost a month of attending to the needs of her father, former president Rodrigo Duterte, who is under the custody of the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague for crimes against humanity.

The Office of the Vice President (OVP) announced Monday past midnight that Duterte landed at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) at 9:56 p.m. on Sunday, April 6, via Emirates Airlines flight no. EK 334.

"The Vice President is expected to address any pertinent matters in the coming days," it said.

Vice President Duterte arrived at The Hague in The Netherlands on March 12, a day after her father was arrested.

Duterte told reporters over the weekend that she was already preparing for her return to the country after concluding her work in The Netherlands.

"Tapos na yung trabaho ko dito (My work here is done)," she said.

"Yung kita ninyo kanina, pinasok ko na nakagreen na envelope. Yun yung huling-huling document na hinihingi sa akin galing sa ICC Detention Unit (As you saw earlier, I submitted the green envelope. That was the last document requested from me by the ICC Detention Unit)," she added.

According to the Vice President, the family has already made arrangements as their father remains under ICC custody.

"There is already a system for the family with regard to the visiting here in the detention unit," she said.

"I'm excited to go home. I'll just book the travel arrangements to go home," she added.

Vice President Duterte has also expressed her willingness to attend Senate hearings on her father's arrest.

"Kung meron namang future hearings na meron silang tanong sa akin, tulad ng kung anong nangyari sa Hong Kong or anong nangyari pagdating ni [dating] pangulong Duterte sa Manila, willing naman po ako sumagot (If there are future hearings where they have questions for me, like what happened in Hong Kong or what happened when [former] president Duterte arrived in Manila, I am willing to answer)," she said.
