Gabriel Go, the controversial official of the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) over his clash with a police officer in Quezon City, will remain as head of the agency’s Special Operations Group-Strike Force (SOG-SF).

And in order to ensure that his behavior would not be repeated in the future, MMDA chairperson Don Artes said he will subject Go to a five-day training mentorship coaching on traffic management.

He said the training program will focus on leadership, courtesy, and discipline and with special attention on stress and anger management under Edison Nebrija of the MMDA Traffic Education Division.

Go became controversial after National Police Commission (Napolcom) commissioner Rafael Calinisan called him out for berating and humiliating a police captain which went viral on social media.

The SOG-SF is mandated to get rid of obstructions for unimpeded vehicular and pedestrian traffic in the National Capital Region and Go went mad after the police captain parked his vehicle on a sidewalk.

Go already went to the Napolcom office to apologize but the police captain proceeded to file the case against him.

Artes said the decision to subject Go to anger management training is not a form of punishment, “but more for his self-improvement.”

Artes said Go was also reprimanded Go for simple discourtesy over the incident involving a police captain.

“The reprimand comes with a stern warning that the commission of the same in the future will be dealt with more severely,” said Artes.

“The MMDA constantly reminds its traffic enforcers to exercise maximum tolerance when dealing with unwarranted confrontation with traffic violators, address the matter in a diplomatic manner, and observe the highest degree of professionalism in all official dealings,” he added.
