LOPEZ, Quezon – A New People’s Army leader on Sunday revealed the location of an arms cache in this town.

Darwin Palo, alias Queen, who was arrested on March 27, disclosed the weapons to the 85th Infantry Battalion which unearthed them in Barangay Mal-ay.
The 201st Infantry Brigade said these were an M16 rifle, two anti-personnel mines, four magazines for M16 and 67 bullets, 20 M-14 bullets, two bandoliers, a 30-meter detonating cord, and a butt stock for an RPK-47 rifle.
Authorities apprehended Palo in Lucena City, Quezon on warrants of arrest for multiple attempted murder, double homicide, frustrated homicide, and attempted homicide.
Army Major Gen. Cerilo Balaoro, 2nd Infantry Division commander, said the suspect was nabbed through continuous intelligence-driven operations and intensified collaboration with communities and former rebels.
"We can see the decline of the CTG's capabilities due to the neutralization and apprehension of its key leaders and other significant personalities," said Balaoro. "Their firearms, explosives, and war materiel are now being recovered one by one, preventing them from launching hostile actions against our people," Balaoro added.
The recovered war materials were turned over to proper authorities for documentation and disposition.
