
Earlier this week, Ambassador Ilan Fluss of the Embassy of Israel paid a courtesy visit to Manila Bulletin for a media briefing. Ambassador Fluss, accompanied by the embassy’s press officer Rosemarie Chavez, is into his last months of rotation as Israeli ambassador to the Philippines. The meeting is both to express farewell and appreciation for all the support extended to him and the embassy by the Manila Bulletin.
The social meeting started with a lunch hosted by Yap Group of Companies Chairman, Basilio C. Yap, with Yap Group of Companies Vice Chairman and Manila Bulletin President, Dr. Emil C. Yap III at the Manila Hotel. It was a happy exchange of pleasantries between the gentlemen with social conversation regarding visiting Israel and travel bucket lists, updates on currents events particularly on agricultural developments, family events such as the recent wedding of the Ambassador’s son in Israel.

This was followed by a meet-up with the Manila Bulletin editorial team held within the publication’s premises. During the discussion, Ambassador Fluss outlined key initiatives offered by the embassy, including programs under Mashav, Israel’s international development cooperation agency. He emphasized Israel’s commitment to fostering innovation and collaboration with the Philippines, particularly in the fields of technology, agriculture, food security, and cyber security.
The ambassador also highlighted the enduring connection between Israel and the Philippines, despite geographical distance, underscoring his mission to bridge Israeli expertise with Filipino opportunities. In addition to technological partnerships, Ambassador Fluss provided insights into recent developments in the Middle East, emphasizing the crucial role of collaboration and diplomacy in strengthening the ties between Israel and the Philippines, and offering valuable perspectives on regional affairs.
His visit reaffirmed the importance of diplomatic collaboration, knowledge-sharing and innovation, strengthening the bond between the two nations, and paving the way for future partnerships across various sectors.
