Senatorial candidate Gabriela Party-list Rep. Arlene Brosas has threatened to seek the disbarment of lawyer Christian Sia, the Pasig City congressional candidate who drew flak for cracking a lewd joke about single mothers.
“We in Gabriela Party-list believe those candidates merit disqualification from the electoral race. We can call the attention of Comelec (Commission on Elections), and even file a disbarment case against Atty. Sia for violating the oath of lawyers due to his grossly immoral conduct,” Brosas said in a statement over the weekend.
In the viral video posted on social media platforms, Sia told single mothers who have just finished their period to "list up" so that can have sex with him.
He gave these remarks during a campaign sortie.
“Atty. Sia’s lewd misogynist remark trivializes the woes of our solo parents, subjugating them to mere sexual pleasure while sending distasteful tones of machismo," Brosas said.
"Candidates spewing misogynist remarks and normalizing the objectification of women should never have a platform to amplify their distorted values,” added the Makabayan congresswoman.
Sia has since apologized for his joke, but blamed the uploader of the video for his current woes.
