The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and other key stakeholders discussed plans on the proposed amendments focused on the fire safety compliance measures for hospitals.
In a statement, the BFP explained that the proposed amendment targets other fire safety compliance measures that may be imposed for hospitals “in place of the construction and installation of ramps.’’
The BFP asserted that the proposed amendments “to Division 11, Section 10.2.11.1, Paragraph B of the Revised Implementing Rules and Regulations (RIRR) of Republic Act 9514 or the Fire Code of the Philippines’’ aim to enhance safety without compromising structural integrity and operational efficiency in the hospitals.
Representatives from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), Department of Health (DOH), and other key stakeholders provided insights and recommendations on the proposed revisions during the meeting.
The BFP has emphasized the importance of stakeholder collaboration in refining fire safety policies that align with both public safety and hospital infrastructure requirements.
The discussion is expected to lead to improved fire safety protocols while ensuring efficient patient mobility and emergency response within healthcare facilities.
“Further deliberations and technical evaluations will be conducted before finalizing the amendments for approval and implementation,’’ the BFP continued.
