DIFFUN, Quirino – Four children drowned in a fishpond in Barangay Bannawag here on Wednesday afternoon, April 2.

Diffun police investigator Police Staff Sgt. Jonathan Hacholna said the victims were two sisters, aged nine and 10, and two cousins, a boy and a girl, both seven-years-old.
Hacholna said the victims, all elementary school children, were seen playing at about 2 p.m. A few minutes later, the victims rode a cart going to the rice field where the fishpond was located.
The victims took a bath in the newly created 15-meter long fishpond unaware that is three-meters deep and drowned.
Police rescued the victims and taken to the hospital where they were declared dead.
