11 areas may experience heat index above 40°C on April 5

The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) warned that some parts of the country may experience a heat index exceeding 40 degrees Celsius (°C) this weekend as the warm winds from the Pacific Ocean, known as the easterlies, prevail.
In its highest heat index forecast, PAGASA said Dagupan City in Pangasinan could experience a heat index of 46°C on Saturday, April 5.
A heat index between 42°C and 51°C falls within the danger level, as it increases the likelihood of heat cramps and heat exhaustion. Prolonged exposure to such conditions can lead to heatstroke.
Other areas that may also experience dangerous heat indices on Saturday are Virac, Catanduanes (44°C) and Echague, Isabela (42°C).
This weekend, the following areas may see a heat index of 41°C: Clark Airport, Pampanga; Muñoz, Nueva Ecija; Sangley Point, Cavite City, Cavite; San Jose, Occidental Mindoro; Puerto Princesa City, Palawan; Masbate City, Masbate; Pili, Camarines Sur; and Zamboanga City, Zamboanga del Sur.
PAGASA advises “extreme caution” when the heat index reaches 32°C to 41°C, as heat cramps and exhaustion are possible. Continuing physical activity under such conditions could lead to heat stroke.
