Vice mayoral bet in Quezon shot, wounded

LUCENA CITY, Quezon – A vice mayoral candidate in Plaridel town, this province, was shot and wounded in Barangay Ibabang Dupay here on Tuesday night, April 29.

The Police Regional Office 4-A identified the victim as Wilfredo Magbuhos, 52, cockpit operator, and a resident of Barangay Wakas, Tayabas Citym Quezon.

Police said the victim and his employee were alighting from their vehicle when a man approached and attempted to grab his bag.

The victim resisted and the suspect shot him in the right arm and left leg. He was taken to a hospital where he is recuperating.

Recovered was a fired caliber 9mm cartridge case inside the vehicle's passenger side.

The victim was allegedly drunk and uncooperative in providing details about the incident to the police.

Robbery was seen as motive of the incident. Follow-up investigation is ongoing.
