Suspected Chinese spy arrested near Comelec office arrived in PH April 25 -- BI
The suspected Chinese spy who was arrested inside a parked vehicle near the Commission on Elections (Comelec) office in Manila arrived in the Philippines last April 25.

Bureau of Immigration (BI) Spokesperson Dana Sandoval said the passport of Tak Hoi Lao was issued by the Macau Special Administrative Region which does not require Philippine visa for a brief stay in the country.
Sandoval said the information has been forwarded to the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) which has custody of the arrested foreigner.
During the arrest, the NBI had said that found inside Tak's vehicle was an international mobile subscriber identity (IMSI) catcher that can intercept messages from cellular phones.
Tak is expected to be charged by the NBI before the Department of Justice (DOJ) with misuse of devices in violation of Republic Act (RA) 10175, the Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012; illegal interception and system interference in violation of RA 10175; and espionage under Commonwealth Act No. 616, the Espionage Act of 1941, as amended, in relation to RA 10175.
