San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora inspected the ongoing construction of the country's first-ever 22-story, in-city, socialized public housing building located in Barangay St. Joseph, San Juan City on Tuesday, April 29.
During the inspection of the building together with his sister and San Juan City Rep. Bel Zamora, and their father, former lawmaker Ronny Zamora, the mayor explained the building contains 412 units with each measuring 28 square meters.
It also provides an overlooking view of Metro Manila and the province of Bataan beyond Manila Bay.
Aside from the building in Barangay St. Joseph, the city government will also begin the construction of a 23-story housing project in Barangay Batis through the National Housing Authority (NHA).
Zamora has also been working closely with the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) under the 4PH Program to build more high-rise, in-city, socialized public housing buildings on city-owned lots, promising thousands of new housing units for San Juaneños.
"Tatapusin po natin ito sa lalong madaling panahon upang maisakatuparan na po natin ang ating pangarap na magkaroon ang mga San Juaneño ng disente at marangal na pabahay dito mismo sa ating lungsod (We will finish this as soon as possible so that we can realize our dream of having decent and dignified housing for San Juaneños right here in our city)," Zamora said.
The mayor attributed the construction of the facility through the collaborative efforts of the city government officials as he called upon residents to support his slate in the upcoming May midterm elections.
"Ito po isang patunay kung gaano kahalaga na ang mayor, congresswoman, vice mayor at mga konsehal ay nagkakaisa at nagtutulungan. Napakarami nating mga proyekto at programa na magagawa na tunay na papakinabangan ng ating mga mamamayan (This is proof of how important it is that the mayor, congresswoman, vice mayor, and councilors are united and working together. We have so many projects and programs that can be implemented that will truly benefit our citizens)," Zamora explained.
