Dagupan City may record a heat index of 47 degrees Celsius (°C) on Wednesday, April 30, the highest forecast in the country, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
A 47°C heat index falls within the danger level for heat-related illnesses.
PAGASA classifies heat indices from 42°C to 51°C as dangerous due to increased risk of heat cramps, heat exhaustion, and potentially heatstroke.
Based on PAGASA’s forecast, 16 other areas across the country may also experience dangerous heat indices ranging from 42°C to 46°C on April 30.
A heat index of 46°C may be felt in Baler, Aurora.
A 43°C heat index may also be recorded in Bacnotan, La Union; Olongapo City, Zambales; Cavite City, Cavite; Cuyo, Palawan; and Pili, Camarines Sur.
Meanwhile, a 42°C heat index may affect Pasay City, Metro Manila; Echague, Isabela; Iba, Zambales; Clark, Pampanga; Tanauan, Batangas; San Jose, Occidental Mindoro; Daet, Camarines Norte; Legazpi City, Albay; Masbate City, Masbate; and Roxas City, Capiz.
