Northeasterly wind flow, ITCZ to bring rain showers across parts of the Philippines
Cloudy skies and rain showers will persist over parts of Northern Luzon and Mindanao due to the northeasterly wind flow and the Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ), said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) on Friday, April 4.
The northeasterly wind flow (weak amihan) will bring cloudy skies and light rains to Batanes and Babuyan Islands, while partly cloudy to cloudy skies will prevail over Ilocos Region, Cordillera Administrative Region, and the rest of Cagayan Valley.
Moreover, the ITCZ, which occurs when winds from the northern and southern hemispheres converge will bring cloudy skies, scattered rains, and thunderstorms to Davao Region, Soccsksargen, Surigao del Sur, Basilan, Sulu, and Tawi-Tawi.
PAGASA warned of the possibility of flash floods or landslides due to moderate to heavy rainfall brought by the ITCZ.
Meanwhile, the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the easterlies, or warm winds from the Pacific Ocean.
The public is also urged to remain vigilant during severe thunderstorms, which could trigger flash floods or landslides.
