A man was arrested for bringing a firearm inside a bar in Sta. Cruz, Manila.
The Manila Police District (MPD) identified the suspect as Alex Bardelosa, a 34-year-old security guard.
He was apprehended by local authorities after attempting to force his way into a bar and restaurant located along Rizal Avenue and Soler Street in Sta. Cruz, Manila.
The suspect was reportedly refusing to allow the establishment's security personnel to inspect his sling bag.
The suspicious behavior was immediately reported by Aljay Mori, 38, the manager of the restaurant, who contacted law enforcement about the suspect’s actions.
Officers from the Gandara Police Community Precinct (PCP) were quickly dispatched to the scene.
The officers instructed Bardelosa to open his sling bag, where they discovered a Smith and Wesson revolver.
Since firearms were prohibited during the election period, the officers immediately arrested Bardelosa.
Bardelosa was informed of his rights and was taken to a nearby hospital for a physical examination.
The recovered firearm will be sent to the Manila Police District Forensic Unit (MPDFU) for ballistic examination.
Authorities will also verify through the Regional Civil Security Unit (RCSU-NCR) whether Bardelosa has a valid firearm license and check with the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) to determine if any exemption was granted to carry the firearm during the election season.
