Gardo Verzosa feels blessed portraying a baddie on TV after heart attack

Veteran actor Gardo Versoza is back on the small screen playing the villain Judge Benito Balmores in TV5's "Lumuhod Ka Sa Lupa."
During a recent conversation, Gardo excitedly shared how much he enjoys his job.
"Sobrang nag eenjoy ako (kasi) ramdam na ramdam ko yung gigil (ng audience)," he said.
(I'm enjoying it so much, because I can feel the audience's excitement)
Gardo expressed gratitude to TV5 for trusting him with the role.
"Kasi after nung atake [ko sa puso], kinabahan din ako kasi hindi ko alam kung makakapag work ulit ako agad," he said.
(Because after suffering a [heart] attack, I was quite nervous as I didn't know if I would be able to work again right away)
Gardo underwent angioplasty in 2023 after suffering a heart attack.
"Thankful rin ako sa Viva at TV5 kumbaga galing na galing pa lang ako dun sa atake sa puso pinagkatiwala nila agad yung role ni judge na mainitin ang ulo, palaging gusto ng away," he added.
(I'm also grateful to Viva and TV5 because, right after my heart attack, they immediately entrusted me with the role of a judge who is hot-headed and always ready to fight.)
What he likes most about his role is that he himself hates the character he plays.
"Maraming mga bits and pieces about Judge Benito Balmores na kaiinisan ko talaga in real life," he said.
