The Police Regional Office-8 (Eastern Visayas) led by Police Brig. Gen. Jay Cumigad identified the  suspect as Sonny, a 65-year-old farmer from Barangay Maguinda, Butuan City, Agusan del Norte.

Sonny was apprehended on a warrant for rape issued by the Butuan City Regional Trial Court dated Sept. 6, 2007.

The court recommended no bail for the suspect who had a P130,000 reward for his arrest.

Cumigad commended operating units for the arrest of the suspect.

He emphasized the importance of inter-regional coordination in law enforcement operations.

“Through close coordination with other police regional offices, we strengthen our capability to apprehend fugitives wherever they may hide. Let this serve as a reminder that no one can escape the law.”
