Rain or Shine and Converge, two streaking teams and widely considered as tournament dark horses, collide in the PBA Season 49 Philippine Cup on Wednesday, April 30, at the PhilSports Arena in Pasig City.

Living up to their tags, both the Elasto Painters and the FiberXers have been on a roll with two straight wins and they gun for their third in the clash that tips off at 5 p.m.
Contrasting to the first game, NorthPort and Barangay Ginebra try to get back on track in the second offering at 7:30 p.m.
On top of the win streaks, what makes the ROS-Converge clash more exciting is that the two teams are also coming off big wins over championship-proven squads.
The Elasto Painters waylaid PH Cup defending champions Meralco Bolts, 128-116, while the FiberXers took down the TNT Tropang 5G, 100-94.
“For a young team like ours, malaking bagay yung ganitong close game na masusubukan ka talaga against adversity. And I think naipasa namin ito against a back-to-back champion Governors’ and Commissioner’s (Cup),” said Converge head coach Franco Atienza.
Already with five games under their belt with a 3-2 record, things have been looking good for Converge so far though Atienza warned his wards against complacency versus the same team that knocked them out in the quarterfinals of the last conference.
“Against Rain or Shine, ‘yun ‘yung team na nag-knockout sa'min ng quarters. Pareho din. Mabilis. Mga bata. Mga tumatakbo. Tira ng 3 points. So medyo hawig. Malaking bagay ito,” said Atienza.
Atienza, of course, will be leaning on his dreaded frontcourt duo of Justine Baltazar and Justin Arana especially since ROS will be coming in depleted in bigs with Beau Belga, Keith Datu and Caelan Tiongson still nursing injuries.
The FiberXers also have the potent backcourt partnership in Alec Stockton and Schonny Winston.
Rain or Shine, though, still has plenty of weapons to utilize with Leonard Santillan, Adrian Nocum and Gian Mamuyac all playing splendid basketball as of late.
