Makati City Mayor Abby Binay announced on Tuesday, April 29, that the city ranked fourth globally in healthcare, based on the latest Numbeo Health Care Index for Q1 2025.
Makati is the only city in the Philippines to make it to the list with a health care index score of 85.0 out of 100, outperforming numerous cities from Europe and North America.
According to RankingRoyals, a data analysis platform, Kaohsiung, Taiwan leads the list with a health care index score of 88.6, followed by Taipei, Taiwan (86.7), and Chiang Mai, Thailand (85.0).
The Numbeo Health Care Index evaluates healthcare infrastructure based on medical professionals, equipment, staff quality, doctor availability, and treatment costs.
The local government said that the city's high ranking in the list reflects its significant investments in healthcare facilities and services in recent years.
"This recognition validates our commitment to providing Makatizens with the best healthcare services. Our strategic investments in healthcare infrastructure, medical technology, and professional development for our healthcare workers have positioned Makati as a center of excellence not just in the Philippines but across Southeast Asia,” the mayor said.
