Fire destroys 50 houses in Batangas City

BATANGAS CITY – Fire destroyed 50 houses owned by Badjao settlers in Sitio Badjaoan, Barangay Malitam, this city, on Sunday night, April 27.

The Police Regional Office 4-A said the fire started at about 11:30 p.m. at the house of vendor Adjimnana Looc, 38, married.

The fire spread fast as houses were close to each other and made of light materials.

Nobody was injured in the fire that affected an 800-square meter area and an undetermined number of individuals.

Cause of the fire, which was raised to second alarm at 12:17 a.m. and placed under control at 12:21 a.m,. and damage to property is yet to be determined.

The fire was put out at 2:15 a.m.

The Batangas City-Bureau of Fire Protection is conducting follow-up investigation.
