
The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) warned that 18 areas across the country may experience heat index levels classified as “dangerous” on Tuesday, April 29.
Based on PAGASA’s forecast, Cavite City, Cavite could register the day’s highest heat index at 45 degrees Celsius (°C).
A heat index of 44°C may also be felt in Pasay City, Metro Manila; Masbate City, Masbate; and Pili, Camarines Sur.
A 43°C heat index may also be recorded in San Jose, Occidental Mindoro and Cuyo, Palawan.
Meanwhile, a 42°C heat index may affect Dagupan City, Pangasinan; Bacnotan, La Union; Iba, Zambales; Olongapo City, Zambales; Camiling, Tarlac; Infanta, Quezon; Coron, Palawan; Daet, Camarines Norte; Roxas City, Capiz; Iloilo City, Iloilo; Dumangas, Iloilo; and Musuan, Bukidnon.
PAGASA categorizes heat index values from 42°C to 51°C as dangerous due to increased risk of heat cramps and heat exhaustion.
Prolonged exposure may also lead to heatstroke, especially among vulnerable individuals.
