DAVAO CITY – Police Regional Office-11 Director Police Brig. Gen. Leon Victor Rosete confirmed on Tuesday, April 29, that 15 police officers in the Davao region are facing dismissal from the service after testing positive for illegal drug use.

Rosete said the 15 police officers tested positive during a series of random drug tests conducted since last year. He added that they completed the required procedures and were recommended for dismissal following the positive result.
“As part of the Philippine National Police’s internal cleansing program, the PRO-11 remains firm in its commitment to maintaining a drug-free organization; thus, we continue to conduct random drug tests among our men,” Rosete said.
He underscored that random drug testing is vital to the office’s initiative to retain only competent and drug-free individuals within the organization, as the PRO-11 is committed to maintaining a disciplined, trustworthy, and drug-free police force.
PRO-11 said that of the 15 police officers, 11 tested positive for illegal drug use last year, while the four others tested positive this year. All of them were charged administratively for conduct unbecoming of a police officer.
Rosete said an officer has been dismissed from the service, while the remaining officers are currently facing administrative proceedings, as their cases were endorsed to their respective disciplinary units for appropriate action.
“We firmly believe that removing those who tested positive for illegal drugs from our ranks is both fair and necessary, especially since PRO-11 is actively conducting operations against individuals involved in illegal drugs,” Rosete said.
He said they continue to support the leadership of PNP chief Police Gen. Rommel Francisco Marbil and remains steadfast in upholding the highest standards of discipline and integrity within the police service.
Rosete denied claims that any of its high-ranking officers tested positive for illegal drugs, following reports from a vlogger that drew widespread criticism on social media, particularly on Facebook.
