Suspected killers of Anson Que appeared before DOJ during hearing of kidnap for ransom with homicide charges
Three suspects in the killing of Filipino-Chinese businessman Anson Que appeared before the Department of Justice (DOJ) on Monday, April 28, during the preliminary investigation of the charges of kidnapping for ransom with homicide filed against them.

After the hearing, lawyer Arleen Tagaban -- counsel of the Que family -- told journalists that the three suspects -- Filipinos Richard Austria and Reymart Catequista and Chinese David Tan Liao -- are expected to submit their counter-affidavits next month.
During the hearing, Tagaban said “they are all requesting for submission of counter-affidavit.”
“Ang next hearing is May 8. Malamang yun ang deadline (The next hearing is set on May 8. It is most likely also the date of the submission of the counter-affidavits),” Tagaban also said.
Last week, the Philippine National Police (PNP) took custody of three suspects in the case.
The two Filipino suspects were arrested by operatives of the PNP Anti-Kidnapping Group (PNP-AKG) in Roxas, Palawan, while the third suspect surrendered to the police last April 19.
They are facing charges of kidnap for ransom with homicide in connection with the killing of Que and his driver.
Six other suspects who remain at large were also named in the case. They were identified as Roxian Guo, and Chinese nationals Haohua Yang, Fangquiang Yuan, Jin Yuan Ye, Jonin Lin, and a certain Kelly.
Also during the hearing, Tagaban said the panel of prosecutors were urged to look into the claims of one of the arrested suspecta who implicated another Chinese national in the case.
“Gusto namin malaman ano ba talaga ang totoo. Ano ba talaga participation n’ya? (We want to know what is the truth. What is this person’s participation?),” the lawyer said.
Tagaban hinted that the person implicated was a Chinese but refused to provide any more details. “I cannot divulge muna (I cannot divulge yet),” he told journalists.
