The Pasig City government officially deployed over 900 interns under its Special Program for Employment of Students—In—School Youth (SPES-ISY) in several city government offices and departments on Monday, April 28.
A total of 904 students passed the screening process wherein they will be reporting under different offices in the city starting from April 28 to May 27.
Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto told interns that 60 percent of their salary will be coming from the city government, while the remaining 40 percent will be provided by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
Sotto also reminded them of their sworn duty which is to offer high-quality service for Pasigueños.
The mayor stressed that the program exhibited fairness, showed no sign of "palakasan," conformed to a systematic process, and was strictly implemented on a first-come, first-served basis.
The application for the SPES ISY program was initially opened on April 4 where around 6,000 students submitted their applications. (Vincent Brian Gutierrez)
