Police arrested a 23-year-old tricycle driver for allegedly stealing P4 million in cash allotted for Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) projects in Barangay Pinagbuhatan, Pasig City.
The suspect was identified as alias "Jomar."
Based on the police report, the suspect, together with his cohort identified as "JD," ransacked the Pinagbuhatan Child Development Center on Sunday, April 27.
Several SK officers discovered the cash vault containing the funds to have been destroyed.
Further investigation revealed that the two suspects scaled the rear wall of a house to gain access inside the building. The duo destroyed the ceiling of the building's second floor to enter the office.
Jomar and JD also stole several CCTV cameras to cover up their tracks. They escaped using the tricycle driven by Jomar.
The police immediately conducted backtracking and a follow-up operation which led to the arrest of Jomar. His cohort remains at-large.
Eastern Police District (EPD) OIC Brig. Gen. Aden Lagradante lauded the officers for Jomar's arrest. He was detained at the Pasig City Police Station.
“I highly commend the service exerted by our men on the ground for the swift response that led to the immediate apprehension of the suspect. This accomplishment is a testament of our dedication to duty, to fight against such criminality to protect our people. For the at-large suspect, we launch our maximum operation to locate his whereabouts. Walang puwang sa aming lugar ang mga ganitong indibidwal kaya’t tinitiyak namin na sa loob ng kulungan nila pagbayaran ang kanilang ginawang krimen (Our city has no place for these kind of individuals and we will make sure that they will pay for their crimes behind bars)," he said.
