Filipino-American singers Apl.de.ap and J. Rey Soul of the Black Eyed Peas as with comedian Jo Koy, took to social media to express sadness following the tragic incident that occurred in Vancouver, Canada, Saturday, April 26.
At least 11 people died, while dozens more were injured when a man driving a black SUV rammed through those participating in the Lapu-Lapu Day festival held there.

In a statement posted on Instagram, Apl.de.ap said, “Our hearts are broken for the victims, their families, and everyone affected by the tragedy at the Lapu-Lapu Festival.”
“J-Rey and I just finished performing and left the stage minutes before it happened,” he related. "It’s hard to describe the shock and heaviness we feel.”
He then urged followers, “Please keep the victims, their families, and the organizers in your prayers. They need all the love and strength right now.”
Meanwhile, J. Rey posted, "We came to Vancouver to celebrate and be with our community... devastated beyond words to learn about the tragedy that unfolded. Still in shock. Thoughts and prayers to everyone and all the families affected. Sending love and prayers to all the Filipinos in BC.”
Meanwhile, Jo Koy took to Facebook to express grief relating the incident.
“This is supposed to be an event that honors and celebrates our beautiful culture, and now we're mourning the loss of 11 lives that were taken too soon. My heart goes out to everyone that was affected by this horrific event. Mahal kita,” he wrote.
