LEGAZPI CITY, Albay – At least 14,830 families or 74,209 persons from six municipalities in Sorsogon province were affected by the eruption of Bulusan Volcano on Monday, April 28.

Gremil Naz, spokesperson of the Office of the Civil Defense (OCD)-Bicol, quoting the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-Bicol, said 51 barangays were affected by ash fall in Sorsogon.
Two were from Barcelona, six from Bulusan, 10 from Casiguran, one from Gubat, 22 from Irosin, and 10 from Juban.
Nineteen families or 61 persons evacuated from two barangays in Irosin and Juban.
“As of the moment, we are yet to receive the exact number of barangays with reported ashfall incidents. Based on the initial information, the municipalities of Juban, Irosin, and Magallanes reported ashfall incidents. OCD-5 Regional Director Claudio Yucot is in Sorsogon for a dialogue and meeting with Gov. (Boboy) Hamor and the PDRRMC,” Naz said.
Naz added that the OCD-Bicol is on blue alert status due to the eruption.
Hamor said Juban was the most affected by the ashfall.
The DSWD-Bicol said more than P220-million in assistance are on standby for families affected by Bulusan.
